Not your kids' Saturday morning cartoon

Since I'm a bit busy today, I'm going to leave you to entertain yourselves and watch a cartoon if you want to--the "Captain Sternn" sequence from 1981's Heavy Metal. No nudity, but language and content are at least PG-13, in case you're at work or something. And in the unlikely event you've never seen this, the green bead is Ultimate Evil, not that that really matters....

Have a great Saturday!

Although most critics panned the movie, I enjoyed it. This is one of the best segments, with Eugene Levy voicing Sternn and Joe Flaherty voicing his lawyer.

...and yes, to add to Vince's comment, that is the late John Vernon--best known as Dean Wormer from Animal House--as the prosecutor.

I first saw it as a wee sprout with my Uncle Larry (who had a subscription to the magazine). I'm sure it was not appropriate for my age, but I was a sucker for the Taarakian bit, and still am.
Heh. I am your unlikely event. Never saw it. Nor Rocky Horror.

I'm sure we all respect you in spite of that, John. Mostly. ;-)
I've never seen it either.

But my mom pretty much forbid cartoons when I was growing up.

Your Mom would have had a fit over Heavy Metal then: an R-rated animated anthology based on the science-fiction comic-book magazine of the same name, featuring stories/art by people like O'Bannon and Wrightson, music from a variety of bands including Blue Oyster Cult, Cheap Trick and Devo, and of course the segments themselves featured violence, nudity, foul language, extraterrestrial cocaine, zombie bomber pilots....

Hence, a "cult classic," and Tania's Uncle Larry was either the awesomest uncle ever or a bit irresponsible with what he let his nieces and nephews watch. Maybe both. :-)
My mom likes to have fits at the drop of a hat, so nothing new there. :)

She also didn't much care for Monty Python and the Holy Grail, so take that was you will.

Both. Uncle Larry was/is a wonderful uncle, the kind that pays attention to what you're interested in, and help you pursue it.
