Friday night movie

Scalawags, via DeviantArt. A nice animated student short with a lovely look; it's not the first time this kind of thing has been done (you should see where this is going--I wouldn't really call it a twist--fairly quickly), but this is one of the nicest in recent memory. The use of color is really well done; I love the palette they used for this, with those rich earth tones, those buttery nut-browns, auburn reds and deep greens. The characters' obvious relish for the plank is also a very nice touch. And I'm especially fond of the 2D/3D opening sequence--that really is pretty clever, and looks lovely.
